Nasdaq Experts Urge SEC to Clarify Crypto Rules: Propose 4 New Categories for Digital Assets

Experts from the American Nasdaq stock exchange sent a letter to the SEC task force regarding the regulation and classification of digital assets.

Experts have suggested dividing cryptocurrencies into four main categories:

• securities;
• contracts for investments in digital assets;
• digital assets-commodities;
• other digital assets.

According to experts, securities and their blockchain analogues should be subject to the same trading rules.

The commission staff was advised to make clear that tokenization “does not change the applicability of federal laws.”
